I immediately called customer service, knowing that there was probably nothing they could do about the 2019 charge and I had to just add it to the insults of 2019. I haven't even logged on or used this service in over 2 years since my previous home network was changed. I am currently doing my YE 2019 taxes when I saw this 2019 $420 charge. Ironically, again this year, due to the pandemic and increased work pressures as a result of the chaos, I also was not able to review my last two credit card statements until now. I did not catch the increase last year as during the time of their renewal, I was in the midst of a personal tragedy and was just paying my credit card bills without reviewing the statements. Regardless, they (GoToMyPC / LogMeIn) changed their annual subscription price from $99 to $420 last year for the same cruddy service. I have an auto response on that email which directs anyone who contacts me to my GMAIL address. I have been a subscriber for so long that I must have subscribed under my original AOL email address which I have since abandoned many years ago. It wasn't a great service b/c it cut out a lot or wouldn't connect, but it was the only option out there that was reasonable. The subscription was $99 per year which allowed me, as a small business owner, to access my home network and files remotely when I was traveling. They changed their name to LogMeIn not too long ago. I don't understand VPN very well, so I am not sure if that is the best solution.I have had a subscription with GoToMyPC for years. I don't want to have to worry about different drive letters while on the road, because I am not in my local LAN, etc. Then how do I use explorer (actually I use ExplorerPlus) but how do I keep the same drive letter and have it connect to that same drive on the NAS Server, while on the road? If I have a mapped drive on my LAPTOP that I am on the road with as drive Z: I want the same experience on the road that I get while connected to my home network.įor example.

I tried to use UltraVNC and could not get the machines at home to respond reliably in the sense that I could not always connect to them etc.

#GOTOMYPC LOGMEIN FREE#
I am using the FREE versions as I don't need remote printing, or file transfer. I think it is pretty good, Very reliable, but somewhat slow. I am currently using LogMeIn for my access to each home machine.

Usually I get the EDGE network, so things are pretty fast. When I am on the road or away from my LAN, I use a Verizon Broadband Card. I may be wrong or have my settings wrong on the others, but these are my results. While inside my LAN I use mostly Remote Desktop because it seems to be the fastest to use. So all machines have complete access to the NAS Server. The NAS Server is about 2 Terabytes and has ALL of its drives mapped on each and every XP Machine. The NAS Linux Server (Unraid) is attached via Gigabit Adapter to the D-Link router above. It is hardwired to a Dlink gamer lounge Gigabit wired Router. The last desktop runs my web, ftp mail, dns server. I have the two laptops and 1 of the desktops (my htpc) on 108 Belkin Pre-N Network. In my home I have 3 desktops, 2 laptops, and a NAS Server.Įverything is setup in my home without any issues.
